Everyday (Buddy Holly song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Everyday" is a song recorded as a single by Buddy Holly and the Crickets on May 29, 1957 and released on September 29, 1957.[1] Holly plays acoustic guitar in this ballad; drummer Jerry Allison slaps his hands on his lap for percussion; Joe B. Mauldin plays a standup acoustic bass; and producer Norman Petty's wife, Vi, plays the celeste, a chiming xylophone-like instrument also used in classical pieces like "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" in The Nutcracker.

A cover version was recorded by James Taylor in 1985. The song was released in early 1986, peaking in the mid-20s of the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart. Don McLean also covered the song, and erasure did a cover of it on their Other People's Songs album (2002). John Denver and The Trashmen have recorded it as well. Pearl Jam did a rendition live in Lubbock, TX. This song was also featured in the 2003 movie 'Big Fish', and in the season 4 of the tv series LOST.
