[edit] The Last Alarm Internet Memorial
The Last Alarm is a Texas based Internet memorial for those men and women of the fire service who have perished in the line of duty. Launched in March of 2000, The Last Alarm has reached an audience in both domestic and international communities. This effort is a private undertaking by a retired firefighter in an effort to increase public awareness about the fire service profession. This Internet site is not affiliated with any commercial or political organization and is solely funded by the curator.
Eric Bush, curator of LASTALARM.ORG explains, "After the tragic loss of Houston firefighters Kim Smith and Lewis Mayo, I was looking for a way to continue serving the public and the fire service. That is when The Last Alarm was born.". Bush, now retired from 12 years in the fire service, started out at the age of 16 with the East Butler Vol. Fire Department in East Butler, PA as a Jr. Firefighter. With the support and guidance of Fire Chief Ed Nagy, Assistant Chief Jim Angert, and Rescue Coordinator Jack Neill, he went on to become the youngest member of the department to complete Emergency Medical Technician training.
