[edit] Full Name

Are There any sources that her full name is "Evanna Meghan Naomi Lynch"? Wookieface 11:07, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2121541/bio I think it's acceptable as a reference seeing as it is an actress profile so I'l add it to the page. AiselneDrossel 11:04, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

It should do it Wookieface 14:00, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

IMDb is not a reliable source as (much like a wiki) it is a user-contributed resource. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 18:52, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wish To Edit

Hello all. I wish to edit this page to ad the website of Evanna Lynch. I am very newly registered and want to know how to do it. My id is kknupp. Please someone tell me something. my email is theexplodieator [at] gmail [dot] com. Please contact me with help. NO SPAMERS!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a bunch --Kknupp 05:02, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I'm newly registered too. I just wanted to edit something that was written in this article, but I can't edit it. It said Evanna Lynch has dark brown hair, but that is definetly not true. I think it might have been a typo or something. I have seen pictures of Evanna before getting her hair bleached for Luna and it was definetly dark blond. Also, how do you sign off? Luna's PatronusLuna'sPatronus 20:57, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

HI Their is one thing that should be added to this page in the personal life section on here. her website (the link next)[1] it's say she's a vegetarian and suports animal charities so i think that should be added if you look on other wiki pages (people that are vegetarians they have it written on there, i think it was their before but someone deleted it i don't think someone put up a source but i have given you one above so can the person that edits this page add it in thank you oxoxo —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jossluver (talk • contribs) 00:35, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unneeded Information

This is getting far out of hand. We, as encyclopedia readers, don't care about her bedroom wall color, or her Golden Snitch fingernail designs.

Just because most people don't care, still a bunch of people care and it should not be removed.
The concern is that it is inappropriate for an encyclopedic article, and belongs rather on a fan site.
I think the anecdote about her going to the book opening is kind of relevant, as it relates to her interest in the Harry Potter novels, which motivated her to audition for the part of Luna Lovegood. The bedroom wall colour is probably a bit much though. Landithy 01:46, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
The level of detail about her room is pretty bad...I mean, really, who cares? It's just as easy to say she doll'd her room up in Harry POtter junk and was a fan. Yoshifumi 02:30, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Room color details are going way over the top. Read a few other articles on Wikipedia and you will see no one else has specific mentions to the color of the ways in their bedroom.Johnpacklambert 03:24, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Articles from unison.ie

Reference 3 cites this article from the "Drogheda Independent" (a free registration is needed to read it): "Evanna let out of hospital to get Potter book", June 26, 2003. Should it be replaced?

There is also a long interview with the actress: "It’s an amazing character and I love playing Luna", February 8, 2006

--M.Marangio 10:18, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

There's a list of the interviews on www.Evannalynch.net for a list of the interviews with 'Drogheda Independant' and others. Very useful source.

[edit] There's something wrong

Evanna didn't start at the end of February. She started filming on February 6th - the same day as filming began. It was also her first day on the set. Vavz

She was probabily on the set, but she said in the interview linked above:
When do you start filming and how long will it take?
Well, for me it doesn't start until March but some of the actors are already back. The filming goes from February til October but I won't be constantly filming the whole time. Some months are heavy, others not so much. Filming is completely off for June because some of the actors have exams.
--M.Marangio 01:01, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Evanna does not have dark brown hair. I have seen pictures of her pre-Luna, and her hair was dark BLOND. Could some user change this? Since I'm recently registered I can't. Thanks. Luna'sPatronus 17:15, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] semi-protection

I'm not an admin so I don't fully understand page logs and all that, but it looks to me like this page might still be semi-protected even though the tag has been removed. If I'm correct, and if any admins are watching, could you unprotect it? --Allen 18:13, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, Srikeit! --Allen 15:18, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

About her picture, I find it curious that both her and Luna's pictures have been deleted for no apparent reason, while all the other characters have retained theirs. In many of the other cases the other character/actor's pictures were sourced directly from WB publicity shots, just as Luna/Evanna's were...smear campaign, perhaps?

Don't get too worked up about it and don't start developing conspiracy theories. Nothing sneaky or suspicious has gone on here. It's simple enough of a reason why they were deleted: the user who uploaded them simply didn't tag them. If they don't tag them correctly, they get deleted because Wikipedia could get into trouble if they don't have permission to use them. Once they are tagged correctly, the image can remain on Wikipedia's servers and can be used in the articles. --pIrish talk, contribs 12:42, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MuggleNet Citation

I'm not sure how to add citations here, but re: citation needed for the statement "[Evanna] is an avid reader of the Harry Potter fansite MuggleNet": (not really an interview, just a very high-profile fan participating in a fan show), Evanna refered directly to mugglenet, twice, when she participated in a recent call-in episode of the PotterCast podcast (a podcast from a different fansite). While not absolutely explicit, it's fairly clear from her statements ("—it was on MuggleNet, I'm sorry—" ...and... "Just tell MuggleNet, I'm sorry. I'm not betraying them.")[2] given in context the actress feels some loyalty towards mugglenet over the numerous other fansites that exist.

Further to that, in the comments related to said podcast, one of the conductee's of the show directly states: "she has plenty of press to do, and wants to do a full, real interview on [MuggleCast] first (she wants to honor the first HP fan site she frequented, and the one she frequents most often), which we support." [3].

Bryanc 08:27, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, Bryanc! I'll add the citation in a minute. --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 06:02, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia

I removed the trivia section per guidelines. I added sourced info to the article (and also did lots of wikignome-like cleanup) and moved unsourced stuff here, maybe people can find sources.

  • Evanna was asked to do a screen test just a few short weeks after being asked to come back again after the tryouts, and three days later received a call saying she had got the part of Luna.
  • She makes beaded jewelry and made the radish earrings to be used in The Order of the Phoenix herself.

Thanks — Gary Kirk // talk! 13:29, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

This is the earrings ref, though I'm not sure where to incorporate it into the article and am running out the door in a couple minutes: [1]. --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 13:31, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Evanna's "cup size"

...is neither cited, nor particularly appropriate. I'm removing it.

Whats the harm of this info? i bet a lot of people want to know

LOL Lopsider321 12:27, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

If they want to know the breast size of a 15-year-old girl that badly, I'm sure they can find it. Elsewhere. It's not appropriate for this site. Katharineamy 13:34, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Her cup size? Now that's a bit creepy. Talking about her room is one thing, talking about her breasts, however...

This is an encyclopedia.. Not.. Hardcore fansite.. And I'm sure listing the breast size of a 15 year old girl is sexual harassment. =_) ĞavinŤing 13:31, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
That is more than a little creepy. And considering her age, decidedly inappropriate. Besides, it's not really relevant to what she's notable for in any way. I mean, if it was an article about Dolly Parton or one of those porn actresses with gigantic implants, it would be different, because they're famous for (amongst other things) their unusual breast size. And I don't even want to know how anyone found out about Lynch's cup-size to begin with. Landithy 06:35, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removed info from Personal life

I removed the following info:

"Lynch's bedroom is orange and has turquoise quotations from the Harry Potter books on the walls. She was extremely excited about meeting Rowling because, as she put it, meeting the one person who created it all was really fun. She says she is a die-hard Harry Potter fan as she believes the books are really a relaxing way for her and she has always been "mesmerized" by Harry Potter.[2]"

The source was dead, but I found a cached version at http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:nxTA71MIAsAJ:www.evannalynch.com/evannalynchbiography . Unless I'm mistaken, this is/was just a fansite that doesn't cite its sources, amplified by it now being a advertersing page. – sgeureka t•c 18:39, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Not as if Wiki's on anything regarding Harry Potter aren't fanboi/girl'ish enough. Yoshifumi 01:33, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 'Best Known For'

To be fair, this is the ONLY thing she is publicly known for. Harry Potter and the OotP is the only film or TV show she has appeared in. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.128.214.161 (talk • contribs) 14:32, 5 August 2007.

I simply changed it, it's now "known for" instead of "best known for". - MitchelMussoLover

You can't use a superlative when there is only one item. "best" does not belong.Johnpacklambert 03:28, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Middle Name

Hi! I wish to edit this site because, as a close personal friend of Evanna's, I know that her middle name is NOT Meghan! A lot of the fan mail she gets now refers to this name and it is driving her crazy as she doesn't particularly like the name. Her middle names are Patricia Anastasia. I have already attempted to change the site but someone realtered it. I have no idea where the notion that her name contained Meghan came from as it was never officially released. If you are not willing to accept the names Patricia Anastasia to be authentic could you, at the very least, please remove the name Meghan from this profile as it is completely wrong. Many thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by EmiJ (talkcontribs) 06:58, 6 August 2007.

I would have changed it, but these 2 sites: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2121541/bio and http://www.flixster.com/actor/evanna-lynch say her middle name contains Meghan, so I'm not sure if your information is right. - Nick C 20:37, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, because those two sites are a lot more likely to know the exact and specific details of her middle name than one of her best friends. =P You know, IMDB once claimed that Richard Simmons was going to provide the voice acting for Tingle in The Legend of Zelda - so, it's not the most reliable of resources, then. Why not just exercise the benefit of the doubt? It is pretty unlikely that anyone would fabricate a source as sincerely genuine as the one above, after all. And considering how few citations of her middle name there are on the net, isn't it more than likely that "Meghan" isn't right? Go on, just change it back. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Banjo-Fella (talk • contribs) 15:07, 7 August 2007.
Give us proof that EmiJ actually knows her, or that her middle names are really Patricia Anastasia, and we'll change it. I don't see why you think it's "pretty unlikely" that someone would claim to be a celebrity's best friend when they aren't - it happens all the time. Katharineamy 20:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, it's not about whether or not she's her friend, is it? I suppose that could be disputable, if you're going to be bluntly realistic about it. But still, what she said still stands. I don't think the odds are very likely that somebody would try to get the name changed to something as innocuous and plausible as what was suggested if it wasn't the truth. I don't have any proof other than that speculation. Anyway, she mainly wanted to clarify that "Meghan" was wrong, even if her alternative wouldn't be accepted. And seeing as the grounds for "Meghan" being correct are equally insubstantial, why not just remove the "Meghan" bit for the moment, until some other citation can be found, or something? --Banjo-Fella 00:54, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

The fact that there is no reputable or reliable source which confirms that Evanna's name contains "Meghan", or "Naomi" for that matter, surely means that, in accordance with good journalistic etiquette, these names should be removed from this website. I realise that none of you have any reason to believe that I am a close acquaintance of Evanna and so may question the credibility of my information. However if you do come upon an appropriate means of establishing the authenticity of my claims, I would be happy to comply. —Preceding unsigned comment added by EmiJ (talkcontribs)

Yup, done. AulaTPN 23:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I can think of plenty of ways to establish whether User:EmiJ is a close friend of the subject, but that still wouldn't make her a reliable source according to WP policy. On the other hand, it would perhaps give her access to documentation which we would accept. Matchups 12:17, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Picture

I just wanted to improve this article by adding the picture of Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood in the latest HP movie. I was certain this was a right thing to do, because, well, this is what happens with almost every HP character/actor. However, this action was almost immediately undone by Deskana, leaving me this message: "Fair use images are not allowed to be used to depict living people, like the one you added to Evanna Lynch. Please see the fair use criteria. Thank you. --Deskana (banana) 20:24, 18 August 2007 (UTC)".

As I am not much of a Wikipedian, I decided to check up on the fair use criteria. I couldn't find anything about depicting living people there, so I decided to check upon other pictures from another actor (in this case, Tonks/Natalia Tena). It is apparently the same situation, both are movie screenshots. However, given that there are at least several comparable cases which are tolerated, I wonder why it is wrong here.

If someone would clarify this, one would make me happy to learn something new ;). Thank you. :)

Please forgive me my lack of make-up, I have not much of a clue about that on Wikipedia and I find it a bit too much to research that for a message like this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by punksmurf (talkcontribs) 15:52, 18 August 2007.

It would be inconsistent if a movie screenshot of Evanna Lynch is allowed on the page Luna Lovegood but not on this page. The URL for the image of Luna Lovegood is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ootp006.jpg 216.215.128.27 08:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
The only way to illustrate the fictional character of Luna Lovegood is through the careful use of copyrighted material--because she only exists in those places. Evanna Lynch on the other hand is a real person who lives in the real world where real Wikipedians (or others) can take libre pictures of her. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 16:49, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
WP:FUC#1. Any usage of a copyright image to depict Evanna would be replaceable, as someone could take a photo of her themselves that adequatly conveys the same information. Therefore, fair use images are not acceptable. Thank you for raising the image on the talk page rather than just undoing me like a lot of people do. :-) --Deskana (apples) 12:20, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Well... you undid my edit, for which you obviously had your reason. So undoing that again would be kind of rude and stupid. I can fully follow your reasoning, but I wondered why a similar picture was allowed in other cases (as was the case with Natalia Tena, whose picture by now is replaced). I understand these have slipped the attention of you and the other people watching over this kind of use. Anyway, I can find a myriad of pictures of her using Google, but as I am not sure about the copyright of these images (I believe fan-sites are a bit less careful about this than Wikipedia is) I will refrain from using them, just in case.
In order for its use to be acceptable here, the website it is on must explicitly state the source, and must also explicitly state the copyright as Createive Commons, GFDL, or some other free license. --Deskana (apples) 13:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
The general rule of thumb is that the character page "can" be a copyrighted version of the actor. But the biography page of the actor itself cannot contain a copyrighted picture of the actor. This is the unofficial stand however, but can be used a sort of rule of thumb. That said, does anyone want to go take photos of Evanna Lynch for the benefit of the public domain? ĞavinŤing 14:10, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Only just learnt that it's not allowed to use her movie depiction, my mistake. --Jammy (talk) 23:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
