[edit] Is operation similar to an airbag in a car

I am inproficient in aviation. That's why, anyone like me can only guess that's the mechanism is similar. Especially reading such words "...a pin will be pulled from a squib containing compressed gas and the slide will inflate..."

as I understand, a squib is a small explosive, which exerts a lot of gas pressure when ignited. And all the gas is used for the evacuation slide inflation.

which is exactly similar to an airbag

or, a squib is used to pierce a seal of some container with pressurized gas.

IMHO more detains sould be added to this section of article
