Evan 'Jonesy' Jones is a fictional character from Blue Heelers. He was introduced in 2001 and remained until the show ended in 2006. He was portrayed by Ditch Davey.
'Jonesy' was introduced into the show as a Constable and joined the Force in order to avenge his biological father's death. He was known to have only one half sibling, Senior Detective Dylan Jones and an adoptive father Commander Reg Jones. His mother was assumed to be deceased although her death is not mentioned.
Jones was a rebellious character and constantly found himself in trouble with senior officers from the moment he arrived in town. At one stage, Jonesy became a prime suspect to the murder of Les Anderson (his biological father's suspected killer). He was later cleared of suspicion.
Jonesy's chaotic love life was a constant turmoil for the character throughout the series. Early during the series he had an emotional and ambiguous relationship with his Sargeant Tess Gallagher. Tess, overwhelmed by her colleague's affection sought safety in a marriage with rogue doctor Josh Carmicheal and later left the series. Senior Constable Susie Raynor's relationship with Jonesy provided more promise and even culimnated in a marriage proposal. But due to her presumptous, fleeting affairs with Senior Constable Ben Steward,Senior Constable Alex Kirby and drug addict Jason Tyler; Susie eventually lost the respect of Jonesy although the pair remained close friends until the final episode.
He was promoted to Senior Constable early in 2005 and became a Detective late in the same year, partnered to Amy Fox.
