Welcome to Wikipedia. Your contributions are appreciated, but please make sure to read the guidelines on WP:SPAM to make sure your contributions cannot be construed as spamming. In particular:
Review your intentions. Wikipedia is not a space for personal promotion or the promotion of products, services, Web sites, fandoms, ideologies, or other memes. If you're here to tell readers how great something is, or to get exposure for an idea or product that nobody's heard of yet, you're in the wrong place.
Adding pictures to the entries of your faculty is a valuable contribution. Adding pictures with captions that link to the EGS entry can be interpreted as spam, especially if it is done on a massive scale, and the Wikipedia community might respond negatively. Always keep in mind that as a Wikipedia editor your interest has to be in encyclopedic integrity, not in promoting your venture. Thank you and happy editing. ~ trialsanderrors 23:13, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Chill on the AfD
It's going to be kept; but a comment coming from this account doesn't help matters in any way... it makes the advertising concern that much greater. And the whole multi-page explanation of EGS in an AfD discussion is mildly disruptive, even to strong "keep" voters like me. Basically, writing anything on Wikipedia discussions in an "official" tone winds up being very off-putting; there are no "official comments" or communications to WP, just editors. We could not care less whether or not EGS itself wants an article, nor about what it thinks of the article quality; it's about as relevant as what Gilgamesh might think of his entry, or nematode worms of theirs.
In fact, the username you chose isn't the best: your own name, or some more personal seeming nickname would be at a better level; you needn't reveal your identity if you don't want, "flizzleflazzle" is a fine username, or whatever nonsense words. There's nothing wrong with commenting somewhere that "I, flizzleflazzle, am director of admissions at EGS" (or whoever you might be), if that helps clarify your statement... but understand that it's you not EGS that is "speaking" (if this is a jointly shared account.... well, don't do that; it's easy to register as many as you want). [edit] Spam
Please stop now spamming in all international Wikipedia's versions. Your use of the death of Jean Baudrillard for your commercial purposes is sick (see [1] on French version, and under your own name here). WP:USER : USER PAGES ARE NOT FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES. Neither is Wikipedia. Baudrillard was not cynic, he thought. You are just in plain, old, instrumental and commercial use of reason. Abou didee
- This issue was addressed by Wikipedia editors and administrators from 12-15 March 2007 on Talk:Jean_Baudrillard and Talk:European Graduate School. The concensus is that this user was not in violation of Wikipedia policies nor guidelines and that this user's contribution of images of the late Jean Baudrillard is generally an asset to Wikipedia. For the specifics of that discussion please refer to the relevant talk pages above. 68.160.140.22 06:00, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
