[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:1stEdBlack.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:1stEdBlack.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags.

[edit] KAGG

I've moved new contribution to the more appropriate KAGG. Thanks for the valuable contribution!--File Éireann 20:47, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

I've tweaked the article again and added a direct link to the law. This looks like a great addition to Wikipedia. I'll see if I can add a link to the German language version.--File Éireann 21:17, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] BaFin

Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht - German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority

[edit] Creating 'See link' pages

Although 'See link' pages can be useful, redirects can be even more useful. Instead of creating pages which just say 'see' followed by a link, could you please write them like this:

#REDIRECT [[link target]]

This special form tells the software to navigate to the other end of the link automatically, saving reader's time. Thanks. --ais523 13:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] David Dodd

Not all of those comments were mine, though I can see why you thought that due to the way the page was laid out (I didn't 'Header' my comments)... I've responded on that talk page concerning the obit, which was my primary issue.--Isotope23 20:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Value Investing

Howdy Eurodog! Thanks for helping out with despamming the Value Investing page. Goodemi 17:53, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Style issue in The Anderson School

According to the Manual of Style, one shouldn't link every occurrence of a term. I've thus removed the link you added to HCES since the same link is in the immediately-preceding sentence. DMacks 14:46, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Otis Lennon School Abilities Test

A tag has been placed on Otis Lennon School Abilities Test, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you plan to add more material to the article, I advise you to do so immediately. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:42, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:NYSSeal1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:NYSSeal1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Notability of William Bennett Kilpack

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on William Bennett Kilpack, by Mufka (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because William Bennett Kilpack seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting William Bennett Kilpack, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 14:45, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please use preview button

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. - KrakatoaKatie 03:42, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Commercial use of Image:VernonCastle.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:VernonCastle.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:VernonCastle.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:VernonCastle.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 13:14, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Cav.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Cav.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Speedy deletion of Herbert Daly Phillips

A tag has been placed on Herbert Daly Phillips, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD a7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 19:31, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Herbert Thorne Phillips

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Herbert Thorne Phillips, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Herbert Phillips. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 22:09, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:PS334Windows.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. [edit] Anna Mae Winburn

Hey Eurodog, thanks for contributing to the Anna Mae Winburn article. I would love to know where you got a lot of the information from, particularly the birth and death info - I scanned a lot of sources and came up short again and again. I'm writing a paper on her and need some more of that background info. Thanks! • Freechild'sup? 14:46, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Anna Mae was African American - why did you remove that from the article? I'm open to the change, and trust that you know more than I do - I'm just curious. • Freechild'sup? 19:29, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Stewart Fischer

Please do not make personal attacks. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages and images are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Users who continue to create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stephenb (Talk) 12:52, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Ignore me - I just noticed you were trying to redirect. I have corrected it! Sorry for the confusion. Stephenb (Talk) 12:53, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
You seem to have done this rather a lot. The way to redirect a page to an existing page is #redirect [[page]] Hope that helps. Stephenb (Talk) 12:55, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sources in Territory band

Unless you are prepared to put the correspondence concerned into the public record (or possibly lodge them in the OTRS system), the use of a reference to personal e-mails or correspondence may fail Wikipedia sourcing criteria.( such as WP:RS for example). In general sources used for articles should be from 'published' sources as opposed to personal correspondence for example, so that the facts are verifiable by other contributors or readers. Don't worry, the facts can still be included, provided efforts are made to place the sources in a 'published' form. One approach would be to ask the entity responsible for correspondence to confirm the facts via a press release on their official site. The release could then be cited directly, as opposed to the indirect citation of personal correspondence. Thanks 11:19, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nat Towles

[edit] AfD nomination of M. Dale Newton

An editor has nominated M. Dale Newton, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/M. Dale Newton and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:00, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] C. B. J. Snyder

I don't know where you're getting all the geneological info you're adding to C. B. J. Snyder, but it really doesn't belong in a Wikipedia article. The biographical info that bears directly on Snyder is nice, though! It would be good for you to add some references in case the information is challenged later. Thanks! [edit] Alloa and its Breweries

I've long been thinking that the main Alloa article needs more on its brewing history. The subsection you've added to the Maclays Brewery article could be that? It could be worth shunting it over to the Alloa article, but preferably with a reference for that. Alternatively it could be ported into the Scottish beer article and linked from Alloa? At any rate, the history of brewing in Alloa seems notable enough to be brought out more somewhere. AllyD (talk) 19:15, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
