[edit] Countries TLDs
- For some of the smaller countries, what do you other wikipedians think about putting on the countries initials if it's a bit of a tight squeeze? I've done this with the Czech Republic, and I'm about to do with on the Netherlands. Pauric 21:58, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- I thought of that as soon as I realized space was limited. The same thing should be done for Luxembourg, Belgium, the other countries of the former Yugoslavia, and the microstates (Vatican City, San Marino, Monaco, Liechtenstein, and Andorra), and others. Obviously, we should try to avoid it wherever possible. --334 22:01, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

- For Czech Republic, we can put Czech Rep., it fits :) For other small countries, like Montenegro, we can just put abbreviations, like Mont. What do you think? --GOD OF JUSTICE 22:09, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

- Sounds like a good idea to me, I'll try to fit as much of the names in as I can, although the page is looking a bit mess atm. Pauric 22:16, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I just got an idea, why don't we put numbers instead of country names for small countries, and then just list them on the side, or something like that? --GOD OF JUSTICE 22:16, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- That would probably be far tidier. What do you think of colour coding it in some way? Pauric 22:20, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Colour coding... sounds interesting :) What did you have in mind? --GOD OF JUSTICE 22:21, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, for example we could just use countries national colours as a quick guidline, although it might not work too well, I'm not sure. Can you change the colour of links on wikipedia? Pauric 22:27, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, you can change colours of links, its not a problem, but I'm not sure how that would function in the case of, for example, Vatican, where you couldn't really see the colour, because the country is so small. --GOD OF JUSTICE 22:30, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I was thinking we colour the number though, rather than use a coloured map. Pauric 22:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yea, that would work, lets agree on the colours that we would use and which countries to colour code. I'm open to suggestions :) --GOD OF JUSTICE 22:33, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Shall we list the countries out first? I was just looking at some of the countries pages, and I guess countries don't have clear cut national colours. What would you think of say, 30-50px flags to the side of each name?
- I don't think little flags will fit in this template, Europe has over 30 countries and it would be impossible to show all of the flags. If we only show flags of the smaller countries, then its kind of discriminatory towards the other bigger countries :P Maybe we should just stick to plain numbers and list Vatican, San Marino, Monaco, Liechtenstein, and Andorra on the side, while other country names seem to fit somewhat decently. If it still looks bad, we'll discuss the matter some more. Do you agree? :) --GOD OF JUSTICE 22:43, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, although I'm afraid I'm going to bed now, so I'll have a look in the morning, and try to get some content added nicely. Goodnight! Pauric 22:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- No problem, goodnight :) --GOD OF JUSTICE 22:46, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Seas, oceans, gulfs,...
I propose that labels containing geographic names should be a light blue colour. What do others think? --GOD OF JUSTICE 01:18, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Barcelona?
What is it Barcelona starred as a capital city? You all must know that Catalonia is not yet an independent state but a autonomous community of Spain. --190.48.107.78 06:04, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cities
I think it is best to remove the cities since it is overcrowded and it does not seem obvious why certain cities were chosen over others --Astrokey44 04:19, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Denmark Strait?!
The Denmark Strait is somewhere else entirely. This is Skagerrak. I will change it. -- Nidator T / C 19:26, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] (Rus) near Kaliningrad
The item (Rus) near Kaliningrad makes it look like it is a descriptor of Lithuania. As in: "Lithuania (Rus)" cf. "Corsica (Fr.)"
Could someone with the proper knowledge please move it a bit more out of the way? Thanks! User:Krator (t c) 00:15, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
