Originally called the trophy was called Le Soulier D'or, by its inceptors, the French sports magazine France Football, maybe it still is! Historic references are missing. To verify the details of this paragraph more research is required! Maybe this page should actually link to a page called 'Soulier d'Or', because that may be the formal name of the thing. For the time being 'Le / Soulier d'or' redirect to here.
