Talk:Europe/Comments

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The statement that in the 17th and 18th centuries Europe controlled all of Africa is incorrect. Even by the end of the 18th century Europeans controlled only a small area at the tip of southern Africa. The statement that in teh same period Europe controlled large parts of Asia is also contestable. It is true that much of Indonesia, the Philippines and parts of the Indian subcontinent were under European control or influence, but most of Asia, including China, Japan, Korea, and mainland southeast Asia was not. 86.157.62.5 (talk) 11:26, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
