[edit] Liberia
I don't believe that Liberia was ever a European colony. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (the same can be said about Ethiopia, if you don't include the few years during WWII in which Italy occupied it- these aren't part of the list anyway). The Evil Spartan 16:43, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think you're right about Liberia, but Ethiopia was part of Italian East Africa. Also the US part of Oregon Country and Patagonia could be left out. --Astrokey44 13:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- I believe that Oregon country was jointly controlled by the British and the US for a while, until they came up with the 49th parallel agreement; thus it's debatable. We can also remove Hawaii. I am removing those two; I don't know enough about Patagonia, though I do think that Uruguay never belonged to a European power (am I wrong?). Also, are you sure that Ethiopia being part of the Italian empire for just a few years during WWII is enough to include it? It seems it should be added as a sphere of influence. Finally, shouldn't the whole of Russia count as a European power (magenta), not a colonized power? The Evil Spartan 14:23, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Russian Siberia should be marked as European power, because it belongs to some "whole of Russia"? Wow... Then why not also include whole of Denmark (including Greenland), whole of UK (inluding Falkland islands) etc. etc. as European powers ??? Warbola 03:28, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

This map erroneously includes Anatolia as part of Europe. Turkey's foothold in Europe is Eastern Thrace, the rest of it is in Asia. If you want to portray Anatolia as a part of Europe for some reason, then you're also obliged to include the entire of Russia, including Siberia. On the other hand Anatolia had been for a short period of time subject to French and Italian colonisation, therefore it should at least partly blue-coloured. Miskin 23:41, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Saudi Arabia has never been Ottoman ???
The text includes Ottoman Empire in the list of European empires (makes sense, its capital city was located in Europe and the whole thing was much like Byzantium under new management). Only problem that Saudi Arabia has certainly been part of it, so it should either to be blue or note added to the map that Ottoman empire is not considered European enough by the mapmakers Warbola 03:05, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Kindly note that only a small portion, mainly on the South-western coast, of the Saudi territory formed part of the Ottoman Empire. See this - 219.73.11.127 10:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

- That portion was not so small at all if you take into account that it was most densely populated area of present Saudi Arabia and most of the rest was just unpopulated desert. Also, 'small portion' argument would exclude even countries like US.Warbola 15:54, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
