European Reference Materials
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The European Reference Materials or ERM are certified materials for use in the European Union of high quality and reliability.
The European Reference Materials are a tool for improving the confidence in, and the mutual recognition of test results and certificates in the European market. The Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) comply with high metrological requirements, ensuring traceability of measurements results, and are the end-point of the traceability chain, thus being primary standards in chemistry.
The European Reference Materials concept is a collaboration between:
- The Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) of the European Commission's Directorate General Joint Research Centre, Geel, Belgium
- The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM), Germany
- The LGC, United Kingdom
