"European Lover" was the seventh single to be released by Little Man Tate. It was released on 27 August 2007. The version released is a re-recorded version of the track taken from the original release of the band's debut album About What You Know. The single was produced by Jim Lowe.

Everyone who bought the digital download of "European Lover" were offered the chance to enter a competition to win tickets for Little Man Tate's Blackpool gig at the Empress Ballroom in December. This meant the single was not chart eligible as sales were linked to the competition.
