Euroffice is an online office supplies retailer with a turnover of £20 million (2006/2007), founded by George Karibian, Anthony Karibian and Christian Nellemann in 1999. It is located in London, United Kingdom. Euroffice operates a fully automated system, reducing the need for human intervention. Euroffice is an e-commerce company and trades by customers placing orders on the internet; it has no stores, and operates a low cost model which allows the margins to remain low.
[edit] History
In 1999, George Karibian was working at a telecoms company called Inet Technologies. George’s customers included firms like BT and Deutsche Telecom. One thing George saw was that all his clients would only purchase software and hardware on the condition that it supported broadband as well as narrow band. George thought that broadband was going to be big as large sums of money were being invested on broadband infrastructure. George started looking for applications that could run on the internet.
George then met one of his business partners, Christian Nellerman, who was involved in building Officepoint. Christian and his family owned a majority share in Officepoint and they were frustrated with the idea of convincing small dealers to generate value by pooling overheads and increasing economies of scale. At the same time Anthony Karibian, George's brother, was working for a McKenzie Consulting spin-off called Potomac Partners. Anthony is the third partner of the Euroffice team. At the time, Anthony was consulting at the CEO levels of Office Depot and Boise Cascade with their European and internet strategies.
