[edit] Background
EuroCatalyst was established by Toni Moss in December 2000 in the Netherlands. EuroCatalyst developed a niche market of accelerating cross-border operations prior to the launch of the Euro. The firm provided market research, creative strategy, technology, and key operational and strategic management positions for large European cross-border endeavors.
In 2002 EuroCatalyst began an initiative to build a pan-European brand by the development of an elite community of top entrepreneurs and cross-border firms through the development of a communication platform to move the dialogue from national to pan-European mortgage markets. To facilitate this initiative, EuroCatalyst launched an annual conference in its name in Madrid in September of that same year. EuroCatalyst successfully established itself as an independent voice and vision for the European mortgage industry.
[edit] EuroCatalyst Events
The EuroCatalyst Event has continued annually since 2002 and has established EuroCatalyst as a respected and recognizable Business-to-Business brands across Europe. The EuroCatalyst event’s mission to improve the products, processes and practices of Europe mortgage markets, has placed it as the centre of accelerating the development of a pan-European mortgage market place. The annual event--based on purpose above profits--features EuroCatalyst’s ideas and vision as its foundation, in an ongoing collaborative dialogue with a diverse network of professional; the participation of key market rivals and competitors at the events acts as the balancing function in providing a transparent, independent and neutral peer-to-peer think-tank for leading discussions on the commercial realities of national markets in its global context.
Each program for the annual EuroCatalyst Event has either previewed or heralded the most significant challenges or changes in European mortgage lending and housing finance developments.
- EuroCatalyst 2002 Madrid: The program's theme "Will European mortgage markets survive globalisation?" pointed out the convergence between covered bonds and structured finance. Spain was the first European market to have both funding instruments. EuroCatalyst held its first event in Madrid to signify the completeness of the funding spectrum.

- EuroCatalsyt 2004 Berlin's program previewed the loss of the specialist bank principle for German mortgage banks and the implications of the implosion of the German banking sector.
- EuroCatalyst 2005 Rome covered "Risk, Relationship and Reward in European Mortgage Markets" highlighted the completeness of the Italian mortgage market, which is the most complete market in Continental Europe in terms of the mortgage value chain itself and the full spectrum of loan performance.
