The European Basketball Championship of 2009, universally referred to as EuroBasket 2009, will be the 36th regional championship held by FIBA Europe. The competition will be hosted by Poland.[1] This will be the second time the competition goes there. The first time was in 1963.

The additional eight qualifying teams will qualify via qualification rounds that will begin at 20 August 2008. The draw for the qualification rounds was held in 16 February 2008 at Venice, Italy.[3]
