The EuroBasket 2001 (common short name for the 32nd edition of FIBA's European Basketball Championship) was held in Turkey between August 31 and September 9, 2001. Yugoslavia won the gold medal, hosts Turkey won the silver while Spain won the bronze. Yugoslavia's Predrag Stojaković was named the tournament MVP. The all-tournament team included Yugoslavia's Marko Jaric and Predrag Stojaković, Russia's Andrei Kirilenko, Germany's Dirk Nowitzki and Spain's Pau Gasol.
In the final game of the tournament, Yugoslavia defeated Turkey 78-69. Vlado Scepanovic scored 19, Dejan Bodiroga had 18 and Stojaković had 15 points while Ibrahim Kutluay scored 19 for Turkey.
