The Eurico de Aguiar Salles Airport, also known as the Vitória Airport or the Goiabeiras Airport, is the main airport in the state of Espírito Santo, and serves the Greater Vitória metropolitan area of Brazil. It handles both regional and national flights, and has the capacity to receive medium-sized aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and the Fokker 100. Users of the airport include executive jets, helicopters, the airlines Gol, Tam, BRA, Total, Trip and cargo from LAN Airlines. The airport currently is considered one of the worst in Brazil due to lack of reform and modernization.
In 2007, the airport handled 1,894,442 passengers and 39,777 aircraft movements, placing it as one of the busiest airports in Brazil[1].

[edit] 2005 modernization
Modernization of the airport began in 2005. Projects include a new passenger terminal, a new control tower, and a new runway able to receive more national flights. The modernization, budgeted at about R$ 300 million, was paralyzed several times in 2006 and 2007, leaving construction virtually abandoned and more than six months delayed by overpricing and diversion of funds. The case is being investigated.
