Axis & Allies: Europe is a spin off of the original Axis & Allies that focuses game play on the European Theatre of World War II. Germany, the Soviet Union, Great Britain (U.K.), and the United States (U.S.) are controlled by the players of this game. The designer made 11 major changes to the original rules in addition to the design of a new map. The changes are designed to better replicate the true tactical and logistical challenges faced by the countries involved in the battle for Europe.[citation needed] Beginners may experience difficulty at succeeding if playing as the Allies, this is due to the early advantage the German military receives. However advanced players know how to utilize all three nations in a cohesive manner to make the odds quite even, if not in favour of the allies.[citation needed] Victory is achieved by controlling your home capital and one other capital until your next turn.

In 2001, Axis & Allies:Europe won the Origins Award for Best Historical Board Game of 2000.[1]
