Euphoria Morning is the first solo album released by Chris Cornell. It was released September 21, 1999 through A&M Records. While a large success critically, it did not sell nearly as well as Cornell's albums with Soundgarden. It is Cornell's only album between the split of Soundgarden until he joined members of Rage Against the Machine in forming Audioslave. "Can't Change Me" was nominated for "Best Male Rock Vocal Performance" at the 2000 Grammy Awards. During his 2007 solo tour, Cornell stated that "Wave Goodbye" was written as a tribute to Jeff Buckley, who drowned in 1997. "Flutter Girl" was an outtake from Superunknown, the 1994 Soundgarden album. Euphoria Morning sold over 75,000 copies in its first week of release and eventually sold 343,000 copies in the U.S. alone.
