Possible copyvio from [1]

This is obviously the best reason, but evidence that the page owner has released the rights would be appreciated, and a statement that this is the case, also, should accompany the page or be on the talk page in such cases. Sincere thanks of course Schissel-nonLop! 16:19, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Still no evidence has been presented that the material copied into Eugen Suchoň from http://www.suchon.info/ has been made available by the copyright holder with suitable permission. Can you please provide on the article's talk page a copy of your communication with the source of the text in question? It will have to be removed from the article without suitable evidence of proper permission, and that would be a shame. Thanks. -- Kbh3rd 04:54, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Copy permission

Dunno how you can prove that I'm not making this up since his response was so brief:

Me: "I'm wondering if I could use your biography of Eugen Suchon for an online encyclopedia. Thanks for any response."

Quote: "Sure, use without hesitation."

I suppose you could e-mail him this link and ask if anyone ever asked him permission if you don't believe me. HotelRoom 05:21, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

This positive assertion that permission was asked for and granted is what was missing. It's needed here on the talk page, not in the edit notes only. It would have been better to have specifically asked in such a way that it is clear that he is granting permission compatible with the GFDL. I assume that's so, and the source page notes that it "provides free information, records, scores and consulting regarding Eugene Suchoň and his opuses". (Emphasis mine) But it's not ironclad in a lawyerly fashion. There are boilerplate examples of requests for permission that can be used to ensure that proper rights are being requested and granted. Thanks. Kbh3rd 05:47, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

This article needed some rewriting, not least because it was almost identical, word for word, to the website referred to, including all the typically Slovak grammatical errors in the English. I hope the main text now reads much more easily to readers of English. In the list of compositions "opuses" has been changed to "works", which is how we normally say it in English. "Vocally-instrumental opuses" does not mean anything. A fascinating composer. I have only heard extracts from his large-scale works, unfortunately. Hikitsurisan.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Suchon2.JPG

Image:Suchon2.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 12:01, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
