Eugenio de Salazar was a Spanish explorer who crossed the Atlantic ocean in Spanish ship in the 16th century. De Salazar made the journey with his wife and family in 1573, just 81 years after Christopher Columbus.

Salazar had a distinguished career in the Spanish colonial service, as Governor of Tenerife in the Canaries and judge in the courts of Guatemala and Mexico. Actually that time he was travelling across Atlantic to take up a judicial appointment on the island of Hispaniola.
