Eugenio Giraldoni

Eugenio Giraldoni (May 20, 1871, Marseille - June 23, 1924, Helsinki) was an Italian baritone.
He was the son of baritone Leone Giraldoni and violonist and soprano Carolina Ferni. He studied with his mother and made his debut in Barcelona, as Escamillo in Carmen, in 1891.
He created Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca, at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome in 1900, and sang in Pizzetti's La figlia di Jorio at La Scala in Milan in 1906.
He sang in Russia from 1901 until 1907 and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York during the 1904-05 season. He also appeared at the Opéra-Comique in Paris, as Scarpia and Sharpless, in 1913.
A stylish singer with a voice of considerable range, notable roles included; Telramund, Hamlet, Berlioz's Méphisto, Onegin, Alberto Franchetti's Cristoforo Colombo, etc.
He retired from the stage in Trieste in 1921, as the father in Louise.
