From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eugene Ssepuuya (born April 1, 1983 in Kampala, Uganda) is a Ugandan football (soccer) player, who last played forward for the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.
Ssepuuya played college soccer at Alabama A&M from 2001 to 2004, during which time he played in 59 games, scoring 41 goals and 19 assists, leading the team in scoring from 2001 to 2003. An injury that kept him out for much of the 2004 season prevented him from repeating the feat a fourth season, but despite playing only four games all season, Ssepuuya was selected 31st in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft. He played one game for the Rapids, before getting his release in June.
Despite his youth, Ssepuuya is an important player on the Ugandan national team, with currently eight senior caps to his name. Before attending Alabama A&M in 2001, Ssepuuya, at the age of 18, played for the national team during qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Eugene Ssepuuya has completed a dream career transfer to Armenian soccer giants FC Banants for an undisclosed fee.[1] [2] At the end of the season, he was released as a free agent and joined FK Vojvodina in the Serbian Superliga.
