Nieuwkoop (52°9′N, 4°47′E) is a town in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Nieuwkoop, and lies about 8 km east of Alphen aan de Rijn.

In 2001, the town of Nieuwkoop had 7328 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 1.3 km2, and contained 2732 residences.[1] The statistical area "Nieuwkoop", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 8500.[2]
