Eu (digraph)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eu is a digraph found in many languages which commonly represents the diphthong /eu/. Additionally, in English, eu represents the /ju/ or in yod-dropping accents /u/ sound as in feud; in German, it represents /ɔʏ/ as in Deutsch; and in French and Dutch, it represents /ø/ as in feu and leuk. In Sundanese and Acehnese, both Austronesian languages, it represents /oʊ/ as in beureum ("red") and Simeulue.
