Note that articles in this category cannot be transwikied to Wiktionary as belonging in an (etymological) dictionary rather than an encyclopedia: the Wiktionary community has strong opposition against discussing "Word histories" (see this vote on "whether to allow people to create in-depth word histories for words"; the very notion that languages have histories that can be studied is thoughtcrime in the book of several wikt: admins), and etymological entries on wiktionary are in serious danger of being deleted by "anti-history" admins. Instead, "Etymology" sections in wiktionary should feature a wikt:Template:wikipedia template pointing to etymological discussions on Wikipedia whenever available. dab (𒁳) 08:19, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
