[edit] History
It was established on October 22, 2007 by Samuel Gebru, an Ethiopian youth activist and student. EAYI is the product of an ad-hoc group Samuel first established in 2005, The Ethiopian Team, which raised enough money to sponsor 11 Ethiopian women for fistula treatment at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In August 2007, EAYI opened its second branch after the founding Boston Branch. Its second branch is in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is part of EAYI's national expansion program in creating branches and contacts throughout the USA.
