[edit] A Jersey Man, and Proud of it

I'm from New Jersey. I curse a lot. I never had school on Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. I say "yo", and I say it often. I sure as hell don't pump my own gas. I know what real pizza tastes like, and I know that a bagel is more than a roll with a hole in the middle. All good nights usually end at a diner, preferably with cheese fries. It's a sub, not a hoagie or worse, a hero, and I wash it down with soda, not pop. And I don't go to the beach - I go down the shore. I judge people by what exit they are off the parkway. I know 65 mph really means 80. When someone cuts me off, they get the horn and the finger.. and they expect it. The left lane is for passing, not cruising at 55mph. I am from New Jersey....and I love it. I dare you to mock me for it.

[edit] Thanks for the WWCC stuff

Just wanted to say good work on the women's section of World Chess Championship - it's needed somebody to do that for a while. So: good work. --Camembert

They look good now. By the way, where did you find the information about how to resize them (in case I ever need it)? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:47, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Images

Your Karpov and Kasparov images, Image:KasparovKarpov.jpg and Image:Karkas1.jpg, don't have any information on their source. Could you let me know where you got them from? Without copyright status, they might get deleted from the servers. Thanks, — Asbestos | Talk 12:18, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I believe they came from [1] and [2] respectively. On the other hand, I've seen the pictures all over, in books and in other websites. Unsure as to original source.--Etaonish 15:38, Apr 21, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] All your base are belong to us

I've given you some links to support SomethingAwfuls claim to making AYB popular over at Talk:All_your_base_are_belong_to_us. Trampled talk 16:44, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

I think it would be disingenuous to say SA 'started' it all, but I think they made it popular with the photoshop thread. Unfortunately only 1 page has been saved of it. According to the guys who made the photoshops, the 'flash' thing that was made stole most of its content from that work. Obviously without the cached pages there isn't anyway to prove that though :) Trampled talk 09:19, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Further image copyright

All these images I have listed on WP:PUI as with above image. For the chess games, there is a way of displaying them without having to have one image per game. For the images of old chess master and games, you will probably be able to claim fair use, if you wish. Cheers. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 07:44, May 30, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Federer

  • A great job. I've been wanting to do it but was too lazy. This was one of the most appalling articles I've ever seen. Grrrr. Keep up the good work. You might want to glance at the Bill Tilden and Pancho Gonzales articles I wrote to see the contrast in how to approach great players. Unfortunately, so many people who write articles (in any categories) are simply fans of that person (or movie or whatever) and only want to put their enthusiasms on the page.... I have my enthusiasms too, but I try to keep them under control.Hayford Peirce 30 June 2005 16:32 (UTC)

Ed Fu: A 4 on your AP chem exams. Tisk, tisk, tisk, and I thought you were smart. and only 4 AP's? Come on. Sigh...and a socialist. I'm just plain disappointed now. Plus...how can an inferior chess player like you edit the chess articles. Lol.

[edit] Toyota function

Hello there. I don't think you know me, but 'gb' (he didn't want me to reveal his real name, but I know him personally) said that you were interested in knowing how I made a function that replicates the toyota logo. If he lied about you wanting to know this...then I'm sorry for bothering you.

The concept behind it is pretty simple. The toyota logo is simply three ellipses. The hardest part is, obviously, finding out how to do this without using a piecewise function.

If you have two functions, f(x) and g(x), and you want f(x) for x<a but g(x) for x>a, then you can 'cheat' by doing the following:

\frac{g(x)+f(x)}{2} + (\frac{g(x)-f(x)}{2})(\frac{|x-a|}{x-a})

Now you just find the three functions that you want and use that strategy. If you want the actual function then I can give it to you (I have it stored in LaTeX format somewhere), but that's really all you need to know if you want to make it yourself, and I think 'gb' said you just wanted to know how it could be done.

Warm regards,

Faraaz (Frazzydee|)

PS: Obviously this doesn't work at x=a, so you'll have to set a domain restriction there. -Frazzydee| 03:33, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] hey

Unbelievable. I visit the APDA article history, and I come across an APDA guy. You're now the first Wikipedia user whose real-world counterpart I've actually met. Egad. [edit] Your sig

Hello, mate. Your sig is bolloxed up: the problem is that the < and > symbols in <font color="green"> and </font> are actually the HTML codes &lt; and &gt;. If you fix that, it should work fine (note: if for some reasons that doesn't do the trick, take a look at WP:SIGHELP). Hope that helps, Blackcap (talk) (vandalfighters, take a look) 08:00, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Once upon a time...

You wrote the following regarding the article at Sollog: "Delete. Unimportant."

I was wondering if you might still be interested in seeing the Sollog article deleted, or perhaps moved (with talk pages) to BJAODN? A number of editors have now suggested that this article does not deserve to be on Wikipedia because Sollog is a non-entity whose only claim to fame is that he annoying trolled on Usenet and Wikipedia in order to gain attention and draw links to his deathporn sites. A couple of people now have agreed that moving it to BJAODN might be a good idea. If you are still interested in the Sollog article at all, even if your opinion has changed, I would appreciate your comments at Talk:Sollog under the section "An idea for Vivaldi: move this entire thing to BJAODN". Thanks for your time and consideration. Vivaldi 00:46, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images

You know that picture of yourself on Halloween that you uploaded? "Ninja.jpg"?

Someone else uploaded a completely different image with that name, overwriting yours (a hazard of giving files names which are too simple and likely to be re-used). I was able to restore your version (since the second image was useless), but I strongly suggest that you replace your picture with a better-named file. DS 13:21, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Spassky.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Spassky.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:21, 13 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 18:21, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of XGenStudios

XGenStudios, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SkyProLeagueFinal.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:SkyProLeagueFinal.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:45, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
