[edit] Fair use rationale for Earth Science Week

This is the current corporate logo belonging to American Geological Institute, used to discuss that company in the article Earth Science Week. It was obtained from Earth Science Week logos webpage .Its historical usage is as follows: This is a logo provided on the ESW webpage for free use in the public domain, provided it is not altered in such a way that affects the integrity or message of Earth Science Week. Use of the logo in the article complies with Wikipedia non-free content policy, logo guidelines, and fair use under United States copyright law as follows. The logo is used solely for purposes of identification and critical commentary on a subject of public interest. Because it is a logo there is no free equivalent, and the entire logo must be used to convey the meaning and avoid misrepresenting the company's corporate branding. As a logo it is significant because it helps the reader identify the company, assures the reader that they have reached the right article, and illustrates the company's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. Care was taken to copy the logo in a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company, without being overly high resolution. Additional details: This logo can also be found on http://www.earthsciweek.org/imagesandlogos/index.html.
