Description
English: View of the so-called Stele of Madrid. Limestone bas-relief with red and black paint seams. Maya artwork from Palenque (Mexico). Late Classic Period (600–800 CE). It shows a Bacab over an Imix's head. It's one of the pieces that held the Palenque's throne at one of the rooms of the Palace's Central Courtyard. It was found during the archaeological excavation carried out by Antonio del Río in 1785.
Español: Vista de la llamada Estela de Madrid. Bajorrelieve de piedra caliza con vetas de pintura roja y negra. Obra maya procedente de Palenque (México). Período Clásico Tardío (600–800 d.C.). Muestra a un Bacab sobre la cabeza de un Imix. La pieza era una de las que sostenían el trono de Palenque en una de las salas del Patio Central del Palacio, y fue encontrada durante la excavación arqueológica realizada por Antonio del Río en 1785.
