Estate violenta (U.S. title: Violent Summer) is a 1959 Italian award winning drama film directed by Valerio Zurlini. It is starred by French Jean-Louis Trintignant and Italian Eleonora Rossi Drago.

It belongs to a large genre of Italian films about Italy during the chaos after the Allied invasion of Italy in September 1943 and the subsequent campaign and double occupation - others include Rome, Open City, Paisà, General della Rovere, Long Night in 1943, Escape by Night, Two Women, The Fascist, The Abandoned, The Four Days of Naples, Everybody Go Home and Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma.

During the last days of Fascism in Italy, summer of 1943, Carlo (Jean-Louis Trintignant), son of an important Fascist (Enrico Maria Salerno), falls in love with a Navy officer’s widow (Eleonora Rossi Drago), older than he.
