Estanislao Zuleta

Estanislao Zuleta (born in 1935 in Medellín, Antioquia - died in 1990 in Cali, Valle) was a Latin American philosopher from Colombia.

Zuleta was born in Medellín, Colombia in 1935. Zuleta was an important Colombian philosopher, having a strong influence in the field of education throughout Latin America. He was a professor at several Colombian universities, including the Universidad Nacional, Universidad de Antioquia, Universidad Libre, and Universidad de Medellín. The Universidad del Valle granted him a degree Honoris Causa.
During the presidencies of Belisario Betancur and Virgilio Barco he was an advisor to the United Nations. He was also Minister of Agriculture and Director of Incora, a governmental organization in Colombia focussing on land ownership reform.
Zuleta founded several newspapers and magazines, such as Crisis (1957), Agitacion (1962) and Estrategias (1963).
He died in Cali, Colombia, at the age of 55.

Zuleta was also known as a well-respected scholar of philosophy specializing in Greek philosophers, Hegel, Marx, Heidegger, Sartre, and Freud, among others.
