Nuevo Estadio Corona will be a new stadium that will be the venue for Club Santos Laguna. This is the fourth time that Club Santos Laguna has announced their interest in constructing a new stadium. But this time it was made official on November 14, 2007 and is expected to be finished by July of 2009. If Mexico were to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the stadium's capacity would be expanded by 10,000 in order to have a total capacity of 38,000 since, upon completion in 2009, it will have a limited standard capacity of 28,000, and 20,000 for special events. The stadium will cost MXN$1,030 billion. The new stadium will replace the team's older stadium Estadio Corona, built in 1970 with a capacity of just 20,000. The stadium will be located on the Territorio Santos Modelo.
