[edit] Extension and remodeling
From 2006 to 2007 it had a major refurbishing, being a venue for the Copa America 2007, in which it will be the stadium where the final will be played. The addition of two new seating areas behind the goals, and the use of the cycling track, were approved in order to accommodate more people. To make it possible to hold more people for the Final Match, the local committee decided to eliminate the cycling track and build a VIP area with a capacity for 8,000 people in that area.
