Estadio Deportivo Cali is a multi-use stadium in Cali, Colombia, currently under construction. It will be used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 58,000 people. It will be finished in 2007. The stadium is located in the highway connecting Cali and Palmira, close to the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport. This was the single picked stadium project of many that were planned, including a stadium for Los Millonarios, another one for Atletico Nacional, and another for Independiente Medellin, which were withdrawn due to economic reasons.
The construction of this stadium was paralyzed for some time due to the finding of remains of an indigenous culture.[1]
