Located in the north side, near many important businesses in the fastest growing city in all Northwest Mexico, Hermosillo Sonora, the Baseball Cathedral of Sonora was built, the Hector Espino Stadium. The Hector Espino Stadium was inaugurated in October 1972. Back in those days the stadium had the capacity to hold 10,000 baseball fans and was known as "Coloso del Choyal" or the Choyal Colossus. Now, the stadium holds more than 16,000 spectators.

Back in 1976 the stadium got his actual name, Hector Espino, the best Mexican player in history that happened to play in those years and played for 24 seasons, from 1960 to 1984.

Home of 6 caribbean series, 1974, 1982,1967, 1992 and 1997, hosted more than 4 MLB pre-season games of the Arizona Diamondbacks and many other baseball events.

Every comfort desired by baseball fans can be found in this stadium, the first stadium in Latin America to have a giant screen and a digital LED display scoreboard, divided in various sections and different prices to accommodate every need. An extense food court with a McDonalds restaurant, Peter Piper Pizza, and many other kinds of food available there, souvenir shops, and a state of the art lighting system compared to those of MLB stadiums in North America.
