Especially for You is the first proper album from New Jersey rock band the Smithereens. Especially for You is notable for the hit "Blood and Roses," the theme song from the 1986 movie Dangerously Close (as well as its subsequent inclusion in the 1997 movie Romy and Michele's High School Reunion), and for the fact that producer Don Dixon had also co-produced two early R.E.M. albums (Murmur and Reckoning). The album today is highly regarded by most critics, and was one of Kurt Cobain's favorite albums, as noted in his journal.[citation needed]
