Esoimeme is a family name which originates from Ibore Irrua, Edo State, Nigeria. Ibore Irrua is in the northern part of Edo while Edo is in southeast Nigeria. Most members of this family have relocated to the westeern part of Nigeria. This migration started with the migration of one of the Esoimeme children in the early 1900s. A large percentage of the Esoimemes who relocated to the western part of Nigeria moved back Ibore Irrua in the early 1970s. Pa Jackson Esoimeme lead the move back to Edo state, and some of his children still live in Irrua and Ekpoma in Edo state till date. As a result of the initial migration to the western part of Nigeria, it is not uncommon for for an Esoimeme to have a Yoruba given name.
The Esoimeme family is spread in various locations outside of Nigeria, most notably in the United States of America and Europe.
