El escudo de Floridablanca fue adoptado mediante el Decreto 085 del 7 de noviembre de 1977, siendo alcaldesa doña Carmen Cecilia Pérez Gómez, para honrar y perpetuar en la memoria de los Florideños, el origen del nombre del Municipio de Floridablanca.

Se acogió como escudo de la ciudad, el de Don José Moñino y Redondo, Conde de Floridablanca, el cual lleva impreso en una cinta, la frase en latin: "Potius mori quam foedari", que traduce: "Antes morir que deshonrarse".
