Escondido Charter High School is a charter school located in Escondido, California. Escondido Charter High school more commonly named ECHS, or Charter, has two types of schooling. A Traditional Classroom Program (TCP) which is a program is focused on normal schooling, and the other program, is the Independent Learning Program (ILP), This program is focused on self paced learning, for students who either can not attend traditional high school.

ECHS Started in 1994 in a rented out office building with only 30 students. The mission of the executive director Coach Snider was to create a high school with out the big distractions of most high school. Ridding the threat of gangs, drugs, and alcohol. Also keeping a fairly strict dress code, to prevent any inappropriate and distracting atire.

"Coach" Dennis Snider, the executive director at ECHS is a man who has been in the education business for over 31 Years. Coaching sports localy at Orange Glen High School, in Escondido prior to becoming the executive director at ECHS. Snider started ECHS in a Rented office building in 1994 with a school polulation of only 30 students. This number has grown to over one thousand, and in 2003 ECHS Moved to a brand new facility, across the street from their prior campus. The new Campus was the home of the Escondido Movie theater prior to the demolation and the construction of the new ECHS Campus.
[edit] Civil Air Patrol
Beginning in late 2007, ECHS administration began working with the California Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary) to establish a Cadet squadron at the high school. The progress is nearing completion, and Escondido Cadet Squadron 714 will soon be finalized. The website for the squadron can be found here.
