Erythrocytapheresis, generally speaking, is the withdrawal of blood, more specifically including the separation and retention of red blood cells, and also the retransfusion of the remainder into the donor.
Types of cytapheresis include:
- Leukapheresis (transfer white blood cells)
- Plateletpheresis (transfer of platelets)
