Erwin Strittmatter (14 August 1912 in Spremberg - 31 January 1994 in Schulzenhof near Dollgow/Stechlin) was a German writer. Stittmatter was one of the most famous writers in the GDR.
In 1955 he was awarded the national award of the GDR for his novel Tinko, in 1961 he received the Lessing award of the GDR.
