[edit] Red Swastika Society

hey Erudy -- nice work on Red Swastika Society. I saw it go through an AfD not long ago and was dismayed to see it go, but didn't have time to work on it. Glad to see it's back. By the way, I fixed the footnotes -- they didn't autonumber; I did them manually since it's the only way I know. best, Bikeable 02:30, 11 December 2005 (UTC).

[edit] Several Collaboration Articles

American University in Cairo. Thank you for not reverting entirely. Important info, especially of interest to US audience, are now lost. --Connection 23:21, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

  • I wanted the reader to know the name of new locations, as New Cairo (it is a name, not qualification, like New York, yet it is a suburb of the Cairo Conglomerate).
  • I wanted the US faculty to know it is not a tenure career to travel to teach at the AUC.
  • The AUC has several accredited Engineering programs. Yet these are not the typical set a University would provide. Now the Article says it doesn’t have any Engineering program at all!
  • I wanted to present the fact that Egypt's High Board of Universities is the accrediting body. Now this info is lost.
  • Also that it has to comply to two separate governance systems, the US and Egypt.
  • The movie in question is a simple entry. It should depict (in the director and producer POV) life inside the AUC campus and had created a significant reactions the time it was on. The AUC started to file a lawsuit. Howerver, in a PR move, the new AUC President, at the time, Pr Gerhart (not sure of spelling), has invited Heneidy (the title figure) in a public event on campus. In this context now, what needs to be clarified?

Finally, I create Sections within the article even at the moment there is not plenty of info. It invites other users to contribute. --Connection 23:21, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Re your additions (User_talk:Connection#AUC). Thanks. More satisfactory now. ----Connection 21:04, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

La Caixa. (One of your Articles). Do you know that it means cash-box or pay-desk in Catalan? I checked the Article in the Catalan section. It is deceivingly short. It doesn't reflect the presence of this institution in Catalan Spain, and also in other parts especially Balearic Islands. It also finances social projects. I wish I had the time to write all this in Catalan.  ;) --Connection 23:21, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

InterWiki Stuff. Have you an idea how to refer (ie, using tags) to an Article in a diffent language within the body of the main Article? Thanks. --Connection 23:21, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for adding that page - I've made necessary corrections to content and grammar, so it's in pretty good shape now. Thanks, Dyanega 16:50, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request in translations

Hi Erudy - nice work on Spanish translations; a small request, when doing pages relevant to Spain (rather than Latin America), e.g. your recent translation of Euphorbia atropurpurea , please use British English spellings (metre, colour, etc), as that is the form of English used as a second language in Spain (see Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English) - thanks, MPF 11:28, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hawaii/Hawaiʻi

Hello. I fear there may be a backlash. Perhaps you would like to join me in supporting 'Hawaii' for the state & island group & 'Hawaiʻi' for the Big Island. It's an issue that has been going on for much longer than the month I've been following it, & this does seem the most sensible compromise. Rothorpe 17:02, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

TIP 'O the DAY: When reverting vandalism, scroll back a couple using the "diff" and "Older edit" options. There were five out of six vandalisms in a row, and you only caught the last one.

[edit] Hello

Hello and thanks for voting on the Balti talk page. Just out of curiosity, how did you learn of this voting? I would like to participate in similar votings, but I guess there is no other way to know about them, unless someone informs you personally or there is a site or a robot that controls these votings somehow? Thanks for the answer. Moldopodo (talk) 17:44, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Moldopodo

[edit] Question

We have apparently decided to move the page. It seems to me there is a different debate now on whether we put Balti (with reference to the Balti (disambiguation) the top of the page, as the English Wikipedia standard requires (please see my arguments and examples on the Bălţi talk page) or Balti, Moldova (it is not clear to me why). Your feedback is more than welcome. Thanks for your time Moldopodo (talk) 01:51, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Moldopodo

[edit] Martín Caballero

Hey. Of course I noted your comment and evidence. English-language news sources often leave out accents in their coverage, which often differs from our practice especially in the more simple cases. What was important in this discussion was that the creator and only major editor of the article wanted it moved, and had already used "Martín" in the article itself. Thanks, Prolog (talk) 00:20, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "ß" or "ss"

Hello. There is a discussion here pertaining to the change you made at SMS Friedrich der Grosse (1911). You may want to voice your opinions on the issue. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 14:14, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Links to dab pages

While editing SMS Königsberg (1905), you recently restored a link to Britain, a disambiguation page. You may wish to know that links in Wikipedia articles are not supposed to point to disambiguation pages. They're supposed to link to relevant articles. You can find the guideline here. There is currently a project underway to eliminate links to disambiguation pages. You can find out about it here. The link to ukgbi is a redirect to United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, a perfectly valid way to link to that article that improves performance by using fewer bytes and saves excess typing. Please try to avoid creating links to disambiguation pages.

Thank you for your kind attention, and happy editing.

[edit] Franz Josef Strauß

Erudy, I am so, so sorry that my actions caused your proposal to fail. I swear that I did not know about the canvassing guideline. I hope that you or someone else will try again in the future. I salute you for bringing the matter up, and I will keep FJS on my watchlist so that I will know the next time it comes up. Don't give up. Not including the so-called "canvassed" votes, we were up 11-2; we can make this change, not today, but someday. Unschool (talk) 06:18, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Bakken picture.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Bakken picture.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:55, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hi Erudy

I'm an original translator from Gaspar Yanga article in spanish, and I start it translating it from the English version, the one that you began almost two years ago, I notice time ago that you request to the webmaster of another site, for the rights of the picture, and it was given to you, but I tried to post it in the spanish version and it seems that doesn't work, I don't know how to put it in commons, do you?, because I think it needs to be there, so in that way other wikipedias can add it to them articles, I don't really sure, because I never have upload any picture at all in commons, if it does so, can you do it?, maybe I can Find it later, or it may need to be done anything else?, thanks.

[edit] Hisako Matsubara

Hi there ! I found that you were the the original creator of Hisako Matsubara translating it from the Spanish version. Since I significantly expanded the article now using mainly the German version and some other resources as well, I just wanted to drop you a note, in case you are interested to carry over the new information into the Spanish article.
