[edit] Club career
Born in Germany, Ersen started playing in 1. FC Nürnberg, switching to Turkey after just one season. He went on to represent Beşiktaş J.K., Siirtspor (loan), Göztepespor, Denizlispor and Ankaraspor.
Ersen had everything arranged with La Liga's Recreativo de Huelva in August 2007, but the deal eventually collapsed and he stayed at Trabzonspor. In October, FIFA stepped in and declared Ersen a Recreativo player.[1] [2] He had dual citizenship, but that status changed with 2007 changes in German laws and so, Ersen played for the Andalusia side as a foreign player.
On February 3, 2008, Ersen finally debuted with Recreativo, with a sour note, as Sevilla FC won 2-1 away, and the Turkish was sent off for a reckless challenge, after just 8 minutes as a substitute. On April 27 he got his first start and netted his first goal for Recre and also assisted Javier Camuñas, in a 2-0 home win that sent Levante UD to the second division.[3]
[edit] International career
Ersen received his first cap for the Turkish national team in 2005.
[edit] Trivia
- His younger brother has also played with FC Nürnberg.
