[edit] Some guidance on what to do please

Hi. I have only just started to dip my toe into the vast ocean that is wikipedia editing but I seem to have attracted the attention of a 'troll' for want of a better word. The annoymous user Special:Contributions/86.138.232.97 seems to have target me basically posting lies about me in both the areas I have made comments on to date. I also suspect that this user is a sock puppet of the main user User:GreekWarrior. My suspcion is based on his 'knowledge' of me re talkcyprus.org forum, where we had a user with the forum name of DigenisAkritas who was evetually banned from the forum after reapeated violation of the forum rules and then attempts to bypass temporary bans on him by signing up under new accounts. DigenisAkritas is also a confirmed sock puppet usern name of the main user GreekWarrior Category:Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_GreekWarrior on wikipedia. Finally the IP address of the annonymous user Special:Contributions/86.138.232.97 is consistent in terms of ISP used with those used by the talkcyprus.org forum user DigenisAkritas. I have tried to read through the guides on reporting sockpuppets and have got somewhat overwhelmed by it all and so am currently unsure what , if anything, I should be doing about this annonymous user, so I thought I would try this post here to seek guidance. On his attack on me on the Talk:Tassos_Papadopoulos#A_statement_which_.28definitely.29_requires_a_source page I responded there to refute his lies. The same attack that was repeated and extended in the other place I have so far contributed to has been removed by another user User:A.Garnet - thanks for that btw.

So I guess what I am wondering is should I be reporting this user as possible sock puppet of GreekWarrior? Should I be 'warning' him ? Should I have simply edited out his attacks against me in the Talk:Tassos_Papadopoulos#A_statement_which_.28definitely.29_requires_a_source discussion rather than responded to it? Should I simply do nothing?

Any guidance anyone might be able to offer on this would be most welcome. Thanks and sorry for being such a noob about this all. Erolz 08:35, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adopt me ?

This seems like a good idea :)

[edit] Hi

Hi Erolz,

I can assure you your knowledge on Cyprus is more than enough to edit articles considering the amount of trash that some people put on here. Imo, if you see something obviously wrong, and you have a reference to correct it, then dont hesitate to change it. If you want to add a citation, just put <ref> url or citation here</ref> after your point.

Some Cyprus articles you could possibly help with:

  • Turkish Invasion of Cyprus - A pov ridden article, I gave up on trying to amend it.
  • Cypriot Civil War - I created this one to cover the intercommunal aspect of the conflict, which until last month, had no coverage on Wikipedia. Basically everything written after constitutional breakdown is my own writing. Being a Turkish Cypriot, I am susceptible to pov so maybe you can give it a look.
  • TRNC - Some of the sections can do with more elaboration
  • Cyprus - You have already seen some of the pov problems, in fact if you look higher up in the discussion you will see I raised similar concerns to yours not too long ago.

Basically, Cyprus related articles are in a mess on Wikipedia, so any contribution is welcome. Cheers, --A.Garnet 14:29, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] No...

I am not who you say, but I have been on your racist forum. Stop pestering me, I will keep a close eye to make sure you dont spread your usual race hate but apart from that I want nothing to do with you. I have sources that clearly show Taksim was a well developed idea within the TC intellectual community as the sun set on the British Empire. There are countless TURKISH publications of the period that conclude with me on this point. now, stop fucking pestering me.

You are so clearly one of the many sockpuppets of the banned WP user GreekWarrior and also clearly the forum user DigenisAkritas that was banned from both the Greek Cypriot run forum cyprus-forum.com and banned from the bicommunaly run talkcyprus.org. The IP addresses of all of these map back to the same ISP and the content and behaviour of all of these is consistent from your repeated vandalism, racists post, use of sockpuppets to avoid bans and use of profanity to your egotism. You hypocrasy is in a league of its own. Here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Battle_of_Thermopylae&diff=prev&oldid=119876722 you accuse me of 'Ad-Hominem attacks' yet here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Tassos_Papadopoulos&diff=prev&oldid=117322141 you have made just such yourself based on total lies and offering no evidence at all. You accuse me of racism - again offering no evidence and yet you yourself post such racsist laden, fanatical and threating posts as these http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:National_People%27s_Liberation_Army_%28Greece%29&diff=prev&oldid=118826240. Then there is your profanity as shown in your post above and on top of all this there is your persistant and blatant vandalism of wikipedia pages of which this http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mustafa_Kemal_Atat%C3%BCrk&diff=prev&oldid=117716514 is just one example of many. All of the above are proven examples of your behaviour and attitudes with this sockpuppet alone - only active on WP from 15 March 2007. So please do 'keep a close eye' on me for my record on Cypriot based forums and on WP shows exactly what kind of person I am and I have nothing to hide, not by using sockpuppets or 'annoymous' postings. I in return will keep a close eye on you - for such is most certainly warranted and needed based only on your own actions to date.
As to your 'argument' it is a straw man. Taksim was a reaction to enosis. Enosis as an idea existed in Cyprus long before taksim did and the development of taksim as an idea was an inevitable reaction to that of enosis. It really is quite simple and plainly the case. Erolz 08:58, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Wow, they trace back to the 'same ISP'? No shit Einstein, along with about 10 million other people in the UK who use BT yes? Taksim was NOT reactionary, Turks would have not accepted a unified state even if it had been a relatively serious political idea at the time because they wanted to do what they always do, and what they are best at, murder rape and steal. Turkish nationalism is all pervasive, all infiltrating, all Turks suffer from this disease, from the most Liberal to the most Conservative, all Turks suffer from the effects their sick father Ataturk had upon them - nationalistic madness, genocide after genocide the Turks have proven all throughout history what kind of peoples they are, massacre after massacre and yet they claim 'tolerance', celebrating the rape and murder of Constantinople every year yet attacking Merkel for giving Chirac a present in honour of Napoleon who ANNIHILIATED the turkish hordes in Egypt. Yet we remember Isaac and Solomou and the countless others who have been murdered by you and your race, we do not forget, we do not forgive, but most of all, we always remember, ready for when the war comes, we are ready for it. If you wish to provoke war over the Aegean, Cyprus or whatever, you are welcome to do so, because we are vigilant and ready as always. Muslims have proven themselves to be utterly incapable of living with anyone else over the years, what makes you think Cyprus is any different? We Greeks are native to Cyprus, Turks are only temporarily there.--86.138.232.97 13:30, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
By your own words can you be known. There is nothing I need to say. Erolz 19:02, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cyprus Intercommunal violence

Hi Erolz,

I'd appreciate your contribution to this article. It has, as I expected, degenerated into another pov account of Cyprus history. In particular i'd like some suggestion as to how we can structure the background to the conflict since at the moment it has more content than the conflict itself. Thanks, --A.Garnet 13:53, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/EOKA-Assasin

It is common practice for people to sometimes forget to log in on wikipedia. A sock puppets tends to describe a user who makes malicious edits and has a series of registered usernames or proxies to carry this out. Forgetting to log in is an entirely different matter. Remove this immediately.--EOKA-Assasin 15:40, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

User 86.138.232.97 does have a history of malicous edits. Are you then confirming that these malicious edits done by user 86.138.232.97 were done by yourself? Erolz 16:09, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Apparently they are the same people, where did sockpuppt2 come from? I think you should have EOKA-Assasin, that IP, and possibly GreekWarrior, not the sockpuppet2. If they are the same people try to find more evidence for that. Also I don't think anon IP's are counted as sockpuppets. You might use the anon IP to establish a connection to Greekwarrior or one of its sockpuppets, or you might use this to try to prove that this user has no intentions stopping the disruptive edits. denizTC 02:20, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
