Erol Sabancı

Erol Sabancı (born 1938), a member of the renowned Sabancı family in second generation, is a billionaire Turkish banker.

Erol Sabancı was born in Kayseri, Turkey in 1938, as the fifth son of Hacı Ömer Sabancı, a self-made wealthy entrepreneur, and Sadıka. He graduated from the Manchester College of Commerce in England. In 1967, he was appointed member of the board of directors of the family owned Akbank, Turkey's biggest private bank today. He became president and CEO of Akbank on March 17, 1998. He has also memberships at the board of Türkiye Sınai Kalkınma Bankası (Turkish Industrial Development Bank) and Institute Internationale d’Etudes Bancaires. Currently, Şevket Sabancı is the vice president of Sabancı Holding, which is the second biggest industrial and financial conglomerate of Turkey.

He is married to Belkıs, with whom he has two daughters Suzan Sabancı Dinçer and Çiğdem Bilen Sabancı.
