Ernst Gamper
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ernst Gamper is a Swiss graphic artist, notable for his album jacket and CD booklet designs for the Swiss electronic duo Yello.
Ernst Gamper's designs are almost always accompanied by an original painting. The cover of Yello's Baby album featured hand-painted original fabric designed by Gamper. He also designed the "corner cut" logo that Yello would use on three of their 1980s releases, and adapted its usage to each release. Since it had originally been the spot where a record distributor would mark a "cutout" release (and indicated both the diagonal cut and punch hole positions of such), it was likely a good-humored suggestion of low expectations by the band.
