Ernesto Scorsone is an American politician from Kentucky. A Democrat, he is currently a member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing the 13th district.

From 1984 to 1996, Scorsone served in the Kentucky House of Representatives. In 1996, he was elected to the Kentucky State Senate by a wide margin, representing the state's 13th District in Fayette County. Since then, he has twice been re-elected unopposed and is facing no opposition in 2008. He is thus ensured of re-election for a term ending in 2012.

In 1998 Scorsone was the Democratic nominee for the open 6th district seat in the United States House of Representatives but he lost the general election to Republican Ernie Fletcher by seven points (53-46-1%). Fletcher, who would go on to be elected Governor, had himself unsuccessfully sought the seat two years earlier, running against incumbent Democrat Scotty Baesler who, in 1998, was vacating the seat to run (unsuccessfully, as it turned out) for the United States Senate.

He earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in 1973 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1976.

The only openly gay member of the Kentucky General Assembly,[1] Scorsone has been with his life partner for over 12 years. His campaigns have often won the backing of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund.
