Ermou Street (Patras)

Ermou Street (Greek: Odos Ermou), is a street in Patras and it runs one way westbound with a stairway in the east. The street begins from a street linking Lontou Street and ends at Othonos-Amalias Avenue, its total length is approximately 650 m and it has 8 blocks all of them with traffic lights. The road contains one lane with two parking spaces on each side. Residential buildings with neo-classical and modern architectures covers the entire street. A section of the avenue from the beginning of the street to Karaiskakis Street are entirely a stairway. The eastern section from Korinthou to Maizonos is only about 50 m east of the Georgiou II Square.

The avenue was paved in the late-19th century along with neo-classical buildings were added. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, the road was finally paved in the 1950s and several buildings were rebuilt. Traffic lights were installed in the 1960s and the 1970s. The street became one way westbound on its entirety.

Its street numbers are arranged eastward as with most streets, 1 is near Othonos-Amalias Avenue and the 100s are by the Patras Odeum. One of the numbers is 97 - the former residence? of Stefanos Thomopoulos, a writer.
